What Will It Take?

The news just reported that a 3 year old boy was found beaten to death at his home in Brooklyn. He was living with his godmother and her boyfriend after his mother surrendered him months ago to keep feeding her crack addiction. They questioned neighbors who said they heard the boy screaming from time to time, but didn't think anything was "unusual." Brainless, stupid people! Is it so "usual" to hear a little boy screaming for his life?

My God. What is it going to take for human beings to stop taking their anger out on small, defenseless children? We're supposed to be adults who know better! I am so sick of hearing these horrific stories on the news, day after day. Literally sick to my stomach. They've charged the godmother and her boyfriend with murder. I can only hope and pray that they wind up in a small, suffocating cell with a guy named Butch who doesn't prey too kindly on child murderers.

Come on people. If you suspect child abuse, you must report it. These defenseless children need us to give them a voice. This shouldn't of happened. None of these cases should ever have to happen. Open your eyes and ears, it's more common than you think. Only the ugliest of stories make the headlines, but it happens every. single. day. Pay attention and watch for the signs, maybe you can save a child from enduring the hell that little boy went through.

Sigh... sadly, I cannot imagine a time where stories like these will not exist. All we can do is try to prevent them, one at a time, and hope that we can make a difference...

That poor, poor boy...

Got another for ya. A 15 year old grl was found drunk on the beach, claiming to be gang raped, and knows her accusers (not their names, but they aren't strangers). Evidence suggests she isn't lying. Apparently all were at a party where underage drinking was going on. The kids all go to a very exclusive private school in J'ville. The parents were in the house.

The parents are denying access to their teenage kids for police questioning, because they don't want to get in trouble for the underage drinking that allegedly occurred in their home. A 15 year old girl was gang raped, and these people are trying to hold up an investigation because they don't want to get into trouble for allowing kids to drink. Sooner or later the police will get their questions answered. They just have to go through more legal wrangling to eventually get there. People are amazing, and not always in a good way.

So sad. I know, it is so depressing to read the paper or watch the news. I have to get Danielle out of the room anymore when we are watching the 6:00 news for crying out loud. Too much bad crap is going on, and it scares the daylights out of innocent kids. I mean, she needs to know that bad things happen, but god, it is just TOO MUCH.

Kelli, you're right. And Tracey, and John...John, those parents are irresponsible and, quite simply, guilty. Guilty of at least this...proving themselves to be unfit for parenthood. Alledgedly, of course. Thanks Lyns.
